Plains of Durrah
Also known as Thor-lan with a mythical reference to the Mists of Thor-lan. The plains represent an ethereal existence between the mortal universe and beyond. Life can exist for a limited time, but its true neutral nature will cause the life essence of humans and mortals to eventually ebb from the individual, leaving them feeling cold and eventually, killing them.
The plains are first described in The Cleric, though Stollack and Matthews both see them in Rebirth Matthews. The Star Spawn David makes a loose reference to them in Waken.
They are best described as a featureless plain of existence, with no distinction between the ground and horizon. Mists often obscure a clear view of the nothingness that makes up the plains. Their relationship to the mortal plain of existence is one step to one thousand steps. In other words, if a person takes one step on the plains, it is like taking a thousand steps in the moral universe.
One can travel between planets and even solar systems, though the time required would be too long for most mortals to survive.
