Wynholm has come to Village of Shad to join with the troop. Duke Marcus Shad felt the young man had more in him than just being a soldier and so made him a castle runner, who ultimately was assigned to James Matthews as his morning runner. He is fourteen and uses the first name of Albert.
Matt is pleased with Wynholm's performance and selects him to become his personal squire and the first to receive the Sky People clothing of dwarf manufacture. Wynholm (as he is known) and Margarette Chainsmith (Kristi's personal maid) like each other and lay plans to marry.
Carrollton
Wynholm did not bring his hand close the the Elfin box during the tests administered at the end of the last book and so no one suspects anything more of the young man. In this story, he is revealed to be Urlick of Wind Home, a member of the Forest Elves. He is also familiar with the coded phrase [Uque Nan Sevrante] and tells Matt its true meaning and origin.
